Recently, the following came to our attention: “The clitoris keeps growing in size and power to the time a woman hits 32 years of age, where it quadrupled in size from puberty.”

Which, naturally, raises the question: Does the same happen with our penises? That is, will our penises be four times larger at 32 than they are at 18?

“Your penis grows longer and wider during puberty,” says Jamin Brahmbhatt, a board-certified urologist. “That’s the time major changes occur in the body that make you look more like a man and less like a child. Most guys start puberty between ages 10 and 14.” Brahmbhatt goes on to explain that puberty happens at different times for everyone, so for some, the change can happen later. “You may have a penis that’s grown to its full size as early as age 13, or as late as age 18,” he says.

And after puberty? Is your penis like your nose and your ears, which keep growing until you die?

Sadly: “No,” says Brahmbhatt. “Your penis isn’t made of cartilage, which means it stops growing when you finish puberty.” Exactly when that happens, though, varies from person to person: “Again, everyone develops at a different pace,” Brahmbhatt explains. “You may take longer than your friends — or less time — to finish puberty. But by 16, your body and its parts should be close to your adult size.”
